If you haven’t yet decided what you need to do with regard to reducing the size of your family’s carbon footprint, maybe I can help.  I certainly hope so, because it will be good for you and for the environment if you can become self-sufficient in the area of providing power for your home.

Probably the simplest, and most generally effective way is to take advantage of the energy produced by the sun.  The sun, of course, is always there, and shines through for at least part of most days.  We’ve also got to the stage in our technical development where we know what needs to be done with the energy from the sun to make it available as power in our homes.

All of the products, tools, and knowledge that we need to become self-sufficient in powering our homes are readily available to us, either as already built, ready to install units, or as the materials we need to build our own units.  If you wish to buy already built units, you can either have them professionally installed, or you can install them yourself.

You will find, on checking the prices, that ready-built solar panels will cost you significantly more than if you make them yourself.  (No surprises there, hey!)  By installing the panels yourself, you will save several thousand dollars, also.  If you think that it will be too difficult for you to make and install your own solar energy system, you will more than likely be pleasantly surprised when you actually dig into it and check out the kits and guides that are available today.  There are some very high-quality guides and other resources available to you so that you, too, can become self-sufficient in generating power for your home.
